  • Wait, there’s more. Realized very early on that there’s so much left to say, so many women I want to speak to, and so many topics and experiences I want dive into. More than ever as we end this decade. I’ll be spending the end of the year and the early new year, with more brilliant and thoughtful friends on three amazing panels. (Seriously). I’ll also have signed copies of Woman Of Color for sale at the events. But more importantly, we’ll be open and excited to talk. There’s always more! So excited about Monday with @catbirdnyc. The link to rsvp to the Female Founders Panel with @catbirdnyc is in my stories!! ** Please bring new beauty, hair care, or tote bags that reflect diverse needs. More specifically, to fit people with natural hair and darker complexions for @wpa_nyc (Women’s Prison Association). I’ll also have a curated section of jewelry to shop as well.
.

I’m Adding my Berlin event with @i_am_frau_katherine in my stories too, so you all can get a jump start. Hold tight for BPL. ✨✨✨✨ #WOCTheBook
  • So often my friends and I joke that I pay rent for my local cafe and favorite restaurant. And come tax season, this is almost always confirmed when I am going through expenses (😭). I have my favorite sandwich (named after me) here, my everyday lunch there (they never take my order), my kids know most weekends we will mosey into Greenlight, the farmers market, our vintage store, the shop where I stock palo santo, our local corner store where they yell “Oakieeee” outside the window when they see him stroll on by and so much more. We help sustain them. But in truth, they help sustain us. In the depths of anything, I have been able to walk out, been cared for, fed, known (and not), wrote a book, took photos, parent my kids (without judgment) and so much more. Small business Saturday is everyday for us. When I think about teaching my kids what’s ethical, this is it. Everyday. By being community members. And at the same rate, in many of these spaces I have built my small business. Whether a book that took years or a blog I show up for weekly over the last 8 years; they’ve helped me too. They’ve become the background of stories I share (like this one). Today go support your local businesses that exist near your home and online. For my small business, that means buying my book and if you see anything you’ve liked that I’ve worn, going through my affiliate links on my site. We sustain each other, and with it, we hold whatever community we have created and have a tiny bit longer. #wocthebook #smallbusinesssaturday
