Our cats, Langston and St. James have had their first birthday this month. I can’t believe it’s been a year already. Initially, I wasn’t a cat person. And the jury is sitll out if I’m a cat lady in general. But I do know that I love them. The kids are so insanely happy playing with them and caring for them. It’s given them an immense level of stable responsibility that I believe is crucial. We’ve had discussions if they would take them to college when they leave, but River isn’t convinced she’ll ever move away from me. Therefore, the cats will likely always be with me (and so will the kids, hopefully).
This weekend is a busy one. Our Halloween festivities begin today, and I’m wearing an orange skirt to celebrate. There are parties, a sleepover, and a pumkin patch calling our names.
Here are a few things that inspired me this week:
+ For Colored Girls…the play
+ Early voting in New York, starts tomorrow
it is so crazy how fast a year can go by, but really time in general! a year and a half ago i quit my job and a year ago i finally started my blog, reflections here: https://tps-steph.blogspot.com/2019/10/0047-just-do-it.html
i loooved ‘i’ve never given birth…” – as a former nanny and educator i’ve had so many children. i’ve seen milestones, been called mom, and grown to love and miss so many kids as if they were my own.
Love this Steph! Also congrats on quitting your job! Would love to hear how you journey is going. Will keep up with the blog.
