The weekly weather report says that next Monday, New York will drop to a whopping 17 degrees! There is no real way to prepare for temperatures that low, except faking the season. So lets just stay indoors and pretend its spring. Can we?
Here are two ways to wear a favorite season in the middle of winter…
1.Wear The Dress. Doén’s newest collection (which happens to be their largest) was released this week. And while we surely are not having California weather here, we can still act like it. I’m choosing a dress over jeans instead of tights. Which is often a winter go-to. My legs tend to get cold quite quick, so a good pair of jeans do the trick. I think jeans with a darker wash generally flows much better with a dress, and of course a tighter leg. But back in the day, and even now, a dress with a pair of bell-bottoms, also gives a poetic 70s winter look.
2. Get the new shoes (in a joyful color). Wear them well. How many times have we all mucked through winter with dull things? The bear-down, it’ll be over soon style look. Every spring, when weather warms up and we de-layer a bit, I buy a pair of bright shoes to wear with dresses or jeans. I actually think we need little sparks of personal satisfaction in the winter instead.
3. The Kerchief everyday. Everywhere. Whenever I am talking off my coat, I crack jokes about how many scarves I’m actually wearing. These days, the number can crawl up to three! Whenever there’s room to layer, add color, or pattern, I lean on my scarves. Kerchief’s are so incredibly easy to wear and place anywhere for the added spring feel during a cold winter.
