Do you ever have those days when you just want and need to be really comfortable? That was me last week, I really needed it. While I have plenty of basic black leggings, cotton dresses and Birkenstocks, I wanted that comfort to be rooted in a true Brooklyn sort of way. It felt ike the right move to wear my bantu-knots for a few days and have my style match my need and my borough. Here’s the full look…
Here’s how to recreate this look:
Grey sweatshirt (I got mine from a thrift store a few weeks ago), black knit-skirt, green Pumas, and bamboo style hoops
Copying this look for my birthday outing this weekend!
Hey Mimi!
So happy you like it! Let me know how it goes!
Love the Look. Would really like to see more of this kind. I bring my little ones everyday to Kindergarten and back with bike. I want the outfit to be practical but i want to feel like a Woman again. Any ideas ? Thanks you so much for inspiring me to simply be me
Thank you for commenting, Elodie!
I think skirts and sneakers always look SO good together. I also love a pair of nice fitted denim pants and colorful sneakers and a trench (for the fall). I realize layers can make a world of a difference. Also, LIPSTICK if you have any! I feel ten times more ME when I run out the door in the am with some on.

I love this look! Casual but put together.
Thank you, Tara!
Its so weird how skirts end up being the most comfy things to wear. I have maybe 4 skirts that I NEVER wear and the other day it was crazy hot & I was lazy but I wanted to be cute and run some errands. I wore a pleated skirt, slip ons and a crop t shirt…I don’t think I’ve ever been that comfy in my whole life.
Haha! It always surprises me too! And your outfit sounds so cute!
You are a great inspiration to me. Your style sassy, but practical!!! Love the natural hair. Definitely getting your book!!!
Thank you so much Imani!
