One of my favorite things about traveling, happens to be the need to still keep it all simple. I think it is often misunderstood, that when or if you travel more, everything becomes a bigger deal. The suitcases become larger, the accommodations become more elaborate and more expensive, the outfits, more grand. Over the last year, I’ve had fun proving that traveling can be quite the opposite. Besides trying to find travel options that actually save me money in the long-run, I’ve also been pulling out some of my old styling tricks, packing and piecing together outfits that are made to be layered and played around with. Simple. Comfortable. And fun.
If you’re interested, here is how you can re-create three of my favorite Berlin looks!
(you can click the image of each piece to find the source)
- A Red Polka Dot Blouse
- Jeans
- Red Shoes (ON SALE)
- Scarf
- Boxed Denim Jacket
- Trousers
- Woven Net Bag
- Green Superga’s
The cool thing about packing so light, I was able to thrift a few things while in Berlin. The top and shoes in the first image, are just a few of my treasures.
Would love to hear of any style tricks of your own!
I am going to Japan for a week and a half or two weeks haven’t determined yet (though got the room) but I am using a carry-on and packing a week’s worth. Since I am plus sized I am bringing key pieces and things that I can wear alot. I have to do my own blog on it, but I have so many clothes that are off the all ( I am into Jfashion) that its hard to find similar things to lol . I also bring toiletries that I may not find in other places, and if I stay in an American hotel chain which I am , I always ask to see what I do not need to bring.
Oh my goodness, I love all of these looks (that red polka dot top! those pants!)! I am all about patterns and prints and colorful shoes and sneakers but I work at an architecture firm where everyone wears black and gray and dark blue. Sometimes I feel like a weirdo when I come in wearing yellow. Thanks for keeping me inspired to keep up the color! xoxo
There is something so joyful about the way you dress!!
Cathleen,
Thats really sweet to say. I really enjoy it.
Thank you!
sweetest, most accurate comment!
I agree!
I love them all, but that first outfit is just the cutest, chicest thing! So fly, yet so approachable! That shirt must was the find of the century <3 <3.
Hey Kaylan!
It was! I’ve had to stop myself from wearing it too much, now that I am back in Brooklyn. ha
