I’ve spent the last few months buried in work while mothering. I’d like to tell you I was my best, but that would be a lie. Many things were automatic, a flow of days in and days out. Mornings. Afternoons. Evenings. Check. And then there’s co-parenting right now, which also means something silly, I don’t have someone to take photos of me with the kids on the fly, so the camera often stays behind.
After what felt like 7 days of non-stop rain, the kids and I spent an entire day out. We made friends with strangers, ran into old friends, got ridiculously dirty and spent too much money on ice cream and coffee. It was perfect.
When it was time to go home, but the stickiness of the day got the better of us, we found a playground with sprinklers and ran through. Their curls stuck to their foreheads, their smiles so ridiculous and wide. While at the Brooklyn Botanic Garden, River said, “We needed today!” and Oak said, “It’s so peaceful here!” I agree with all of it.
I hope you don’t mind, but here are photos (because I finally brought my camera out!) of our wonderful day…
These photos are so beautiful! It seems like such a magical day!
We all need a little play in our day…happy frolicking about in nature.
