Hey! How are you? While overhearing conversations on the street yesterday, I realized summer’s deadline is on everyone’s tongue. I hear classroom number exchanges, school uniform sales, and all this talk about mid-summer. In an effort to keep up, I filled our calendar with all the wonderful things we can do in the city during our last few weeks. But something also came along with the writing and planning of our schedules: The reality that I need a small blog-work break.
See, there’s a business to blogging. That business is amplified when you’re also writing for other places, participating in shoots, answering questions for features and planning and taking care of the small but all-encompassing details of running an actual business from the back-end. I often work more than 40 hours a week, and that’s while taking care of the kids and doing my best to be present. I can’t complain, it is all wonderful, so so so wonderful, but I am a bit tired.
Once I was asked how does one freelance successfully, and while my answer takes on various forms as my business and work has evolved past this space, my feelings are still rooted the same: You have to know when to pause and recharge.
And so, call this a midsummer break. I will still be on instagram, I will still be writing, scheming and planning. Will you be here when I get back on August 14th? I really hope so.
Thank you all for being amazing and supportive, and giving me the space to always share. It means more than you will ever know.
In the meantime, here are a few things to keep you company:

Have an amazing, well-deserved, (kind of) break!
Happy Saturday! I was just searching here on Pintrest for a roasted chicken breast recipie. I was not searching for information on how to be be a good blogger. I love synchronicity because just this week the subject has been on my mind. You see, I will be 65 in April but I am not ready to accept that there is no longer any space for me to be relevant. I’d like to retool and brand myself and my all natural body products. Blogging is just one step in that direction, but alas I have not as yet to figure out how I can make it happen. Thank you for being available for me to read even though I was just looking for a chicken recipie.
Thank you, Alison for reading!
