This Saturday, we celebrated Oak’s third birthday! What started as a relaxed barbecue with a few friends and family, turned into an all out affair, where the last guest didn’t leave until the late evening. It was full of family and joy. I even dragged a few guests into a game of double dutch!
The party was an 80’s hip hop theme, so we played Run DMC on rotation and did our best to dress the part. We found old wood and graffiti’d it for a photo backdrop.
Oak ate about three cupcakes and had too much juice to count. But you only turn three once, so there’s that.
When the party was wrapping up and we were opening presents, Peter secretly passed out these confetti poppers to the adult party guests. When the last present was opened, everyone shook their poppers and confetti exploded all over the apartment. At first Oak was nervous, then he looked around, hugged me, and started laughing.
I can’t believe he is now 3! Do you have any tips for raising a three year old boy? I feel like so much has changed already! All the talking!
