And just like that, it feels like summer in the city. Last week, I bought the kids new shoes for splash-pad hopping and we re-sized all of their bathing suits. I pulled my hair back and dusted off a few of my favorite straw hats.
It will be a hot weekend, so tomorrow, we are heading to Coney Island and I keep falling down the rabbit hole with these images of Coney Island in the 80s. Each photograph feels gritty and magical at once.
While I’m looking forward to seeing River and Oak’s eyes light up as the spot the Wonder Wheel in the distance, there will always be that part of me that tends to be more excited about funnel cake and music than them. Secretly, this trip to Coney is for me. 😉
Have a fun weekend!

I love it. My mommy said that she took us a lot and to Play land. I was a few years old in the late 80s but I do remember going and I even have a pic of me going even younger with my cousins. I plan on going the summer, taking my nieces and nephews.
That top photo is actually by Bruce Davidson, from his "Subway" series. I know because I just bought the book, and spent the weekend pouring over it and its so great. That image is one of my favourites. x
Thank you so much for the correction, you know I wrote it and then forgot to change it. The top photo was originally different. Thank you!! It's a favorite of mine and actually, I want that book!
