What are you reading this month? Last year I told you that I would try and read a book per month, and I’m happy to say it was a success. With only four months left of the year when I took on the goal, I was able to read four books. This year, I have the same goal! It can be daunting to commit ourselves to a piece of literature when we have so much going on in our lives, but finishing a good book is also very rewarding.
January’s book is Swing Time, by Zadie Smith. I’m already a few chapters in and engrossed in the story, but do understand the confusion in the book’s zig-zag in time. If you’re wondering, the book is about two girls who are dancers, politics, race, friendships, and music.
Have you read it yet? If not, buy it here and read along with me this month! Or leave your thoughts (without giving too much away) about the book in the comments!
I love this literary encouragement! Go LaTonya!
This came in my book of the month box and I just started it. I'm so into it!
This book is on my list of books to read soon. I just finished "The Vegetarian" (a book club selection for a new little book club with a few ladies) and afterwards immediately started up "A Man Called Ove". So many on my list..
Thanks Sara!
That's so awesome. I've been reading mixed reviews, I'm okay on it right now. Not in love. Can't wait to see what you think when you're finished.
Thats great, Alicia! I'll try and discuss it later this month. So if you haven't had the chance to read it by then, just skip that post!

This is a lovely idea La Tonya! I'm a huge Zadie Smith fan and have read all her novels… and each of them is autographed by Zadie! I'm already in a book club but I'm joining a second one where we will read books by women of colour. Looking forward to your thoughts on 'Swing Time'. *M
Hey M! Thats so amazing that you got yours signed. I tried to make it to one of her talks here in Brooklyn and just never could.
