Christmas Card Traditions

Even though we have been a family for 7 years, I feel as though we are still developing our own family Christmas card traditions. Initially, the photos felt silly, Peter is a videographer and also worked as a photographer, and shot photos of our family often. But when River grew a little, the need to document  and send updates on her growth grew greater, and as did my love for cheesy Christmas cards.

We did not send traditional mailers this year, I really enjoyed dropping cards in the email accounts for our friends and family, accompanied with a little note. While doing so, I realized that we usually go for more relaxed scenes; couch, bed, stoop, and I believe it is a testament to how we Often feel rounding out the year and bringing in a new one. Home and relaxation, with each other feels safe, comforting, and joyous, and this is the message that I hope we expressed in our parenting and our family and friend relations in the year.
We ended up not choosing any of these hilarious photos, and opted to use a more semi-serious one (so hard for our goofy bunch!), but I wanted to share them because they make me laugh so much! A special thank you to my dear friend, Maia, who shot all of these for us (with her 2 year old at her feet or on her hip or shoulders!).

Do you have any of your own funny or sentimental Christmas card traditions? I’d love to hear!

P.S I’m wearing my favorite dress by Orla Kiely.

Ever since we got married four years ago, I've made it a point to send a holiday card each year. It's one of my favorite traditions. Now I just have to go through the arduous task of addressing all of them. -__-
    Happy holidays!

Hi love, the addressing is always the hard part, right? I'm really going to try next year!

These are perfect, and so up my alley. As much as I love scrolling and seeing all of my friends and family and their perfectly posed and propped holiday portraits, I kind of love the fact that ours never look like that. We aren't perfect, and life can get messy, so we always want our pictures to reflect that. Sometimes I'll do the cheesy matching outfits (I'm a little corny at heart), but even with that we like our environment relaxed and comfortable. Thanks for sharing your beautiful family! Merry Christmas!

A bit late for this year but how about having a document on your computer with all the addresses that you can print out onto stickers?? That way all you have to do is put stickers on envelopes, much quicker/easier and kids can help too!
