Our Secret Weapon

Monday rolls around, though I feel my reaction should be different, it feels like just another day. After all, there’s no office I have to head into at any specific time, and no train I need to board to get to that office. With freelancing, Mondays come easy—most of the time. Nevertheless, to help shake the post-weekend blues, Peter and I have a secret Monday weapon:Music.

My philosophy is this: We should treat Monday like Friday and dance our way in and out. Each morning I stumble in our living room and open the curtains. Then, coffee. The kids start waking up and after a few cuddles, the music gets us moving.

My favorite morning songs in no particular order:
Otis Redding (That’s How Strong My Love is)
Lauryn Hill (Zion)
Beyonce (Formation)

Peter’s favorite morning songs in no particular order:
Joanna Newsom (Waltz of the 101st Lightborne)
Brick + Mortar (Heat Stroke)
Island (Abominable Snow)

Your turn! What’s your secret (or not-so-secret) Monday morning weapon?

Music is the cure to all my frustrations. It allows us to go beyond our worries and enter an entirely new realm. It connects the listener to the singer, the mind to the melody, and today thanks to you I have been reminded to place my headphones onto my ears and escape, only to discover the beauty of just being present in serenity.

Prayer and meditation is my cure for all day craziness.

A tall glass of water and a short cup of hot tea gets me prepared for the busy start of a uni week. I love this post!

I subscribe to a lot of podcasts and found that my most favorite gets posted every Monday morning. It makes it so easy for me to get out of bed when I know that I'm very close to laughing. 🙂

    Hi Magda!
You're spot on. I feel the same. It has a way of transporting people beyond that current moment.

The water! I often forget to drink a cup first thing, but for me its almost like a cup of coffee. It just wakes me up automatically.
