In my dreams, my apartment is made of wood floors that creak with each toe tap, and our bed is flat on the floor with layers of colorful tapestries that warm when the sun rises each morning. In this dream we live on the third floor. The light floods in each day. In my dreams, the walls are bare – the corners overflow with plants. The apartment smells of sandalwood and lavender. It’s a great dream to have.
Reality is: I am constantly drawn to color, we don’t have wood floors, I find a floor bed extremely uncomfortable, and we live in a dimly-lit first floor apartment. For now, despite these factors, we are completely happy.
Beyond all of that, there seems to be things that need updating, and things I change my position on. Bed linens being one of them. When it comes to white linens on our bed, I had gone back and forth for a bit. Our room takes on a more neutral feel, and on occasion, I toyed with various patterns and textures for our linens. In the end, I choose white. It constantly makes our room feel clean.
Right now, I find myself throwing various whites, creams, and off-white blankets, pillow cases, and sheets in my carts. Where will they be stored? No clue. It’s sort of like this woven laundry basket kick I had a bit ago. I just needed one.

I've had West Elm's Belgian Linen sheet set (in white) and duvet cover (in slate) in my cart for over a year now ever since I slept on some at my mother-in-law's last christmas. I keep meaning to buy them but can never get myself to spend so much on them, so i'm waiting for a sale. So soft and light!

I feel the same way! Mostly when it comes to sheets, though! I've toyed with different mixes, but I'm always drawn to crisp, soft, airy white sheets. We also have a linen set that I love as well. For on top, I just adore quilts and I tend to swap those out (or layer!) with our big fluffy down comforter in the winter, which I put a deep grey linen duvet cover on. I'm still looking for the perfect white sheets, though!
IKEA makes a lovely linen duvet cover that comes in off-white and a sand color, and it gets so soft with washing. I'm really enjoying mine! It's a much cheaper alternative to other brands' 100% linen products.
