When I think about wearing a bandana on my head, I’m brought to Carrie Bradshaw. Her effortless way of wearing a bandana with kitten heels and a cropped top. The epitome of summer in the city.
The thing about wearing a bandana in the heat of summer is this; beyond being extremely functional, it’s simply cool. I lack the language to fully articulate the gravity of wearing one with an outfit that looks fine prior to it’s existence. It has this way of twisting things up; in that head scratching kind of way. Simply because, bandanas are easy. And sometimes, the simplest of things miss our daily wardrobes.
Don’t fear if you’re not up to running to your local thrift and dropping fifty cents or a buck on one. Most small scarves will attain that look, with a little folding. Mine is actually a scarf from the fine ladies of Block Shop Textiles.

P.S Nordstrom is having it’s huge anniversary sale. Today is the first day it’s open to the public, yay! I linked a few things that are similar to my look if you want to re-create it yourself. Happy shopping.

*and it is done – yay!*
This made me think of how my mom wore her bandana rolled like a head band in the 80's (she loves Bruce Springsteen). I asked to borrow it because she wasn't using it any more, and it is one of my most cherished possessions. Because it is old and well worn, it has this super soft quality to it (and I swear it smells like childhood). As I was checking out the link to your beautiful scarf, I discovered that it is named Alma, the same name as my 6 month old daughter. Now I am thinking I should buy one, wear it as much as my mom did, and pass it on to her. Kind of feels like it's meant to be – and I love that! Crossing my fingers that they ship outside the US.
Love scarf as headwrap in summer!!!
