Last week, Peter came rushing in from the park pretty excited in the cute pure innocent kind of way.
On his way home, he caught our neighbors tossing out a perfectly good Billy Bookcase from Ikea and a plant they no longer had time to bring all the way back to life. Knowing me and the way I love making old things new, he dropped the kids off at home, and ran out to get the furniture before another neighbor snatched them up. It was the simple kind of score.
It was pretty sweet, a free piece of furniture and a sad plant (that I will try to bring back to life), just so happens to be my dark chocolate and fresh bouquet. He can also bring home a large iced coffee from my favorite place, and that gets me all soft and mushy too. It’s totally silly and beautiful, how he gets me and I get him.
I digress, this post isn’t about our love or Peter. It’s about that bookcase. The night after he brought it in, I went and purchased a new peachy paint to spruce up the old thing. It turned out pretty amazing. Between Scosha repainting Store 64, and Justina’s beautiful armoire, pinks and peaches have been on my mind. This color in particular reminds me of New Orleans. Beautiful, eclectic, fun, and yet, weirdly calming. Our living room looks like it’s gotten a mini makeover, a new-to-me piece of furniture and a splash of color really does wonders.
The bookcase is painted Peach Mimosa, and I purchased it from Home Depot. Are you liking pops of pinks and peach in homes, or are you totally against it?

Love the peach color choice! I think a little drop of it here and there isn't too much.
I also spotted the book, Afros, on your bookcase. Would you mind sharing the author's name? That seems like a book right up my alley. 🙂
Hey lady! I linked it all above.

I have never ever been a pink person–I look awful wearing it, and I've never been a fan. But I'm redoing the floors in my house and decided I just couldn't live without a pink bedroom! I painted it THE most gorgeous blush that just absolutely glows in the afternoon sun. I'm so so in love with it!
I like the rehab that peach color looks nice!! I love finding gems in the trash and reworking them for my home. I check the dumpster by my apartment all the time to make sure I don't miss a 'new' piece. Also, I adore that New Bohemians book I've been flipping the pages very often over the past month.
oh man…how could i miss that?! sorry…
thank you!
