Easter 2015

Happy Easter! I hope you had a very relaxing and exciting weekend. We kind of threw Easter together pretty last minute. Nevertheless, it was amazing and special in its own way.

We started our morning with Easter baskets in our messy bed. I had a girls night to attend the night before, and literally spent the day before racking my brain about what to put inside their baskets. and if I should even purchase a basket! It was around 4 pm when I left for a few hours and collected my thoughts and things for the kids. I chose to get River an actual woven basket from a local shop for her things. River has a really hard time letting things go, unless she’s giving it to her brother (in that case, she still gets to play with it), so I didn’t want to bring in a cheap basket that served no purpose beyond Easter. I went and picked up a few things from the lovely people at Polarn O. Pyret, who I had the opportunity to work with a few weeks back. I got both of the kids some spring necessities, that are comfortable, yet simple and adorable. Lastly, I added in a Chia Pet gift she received for Christmas from her great grandfather, that we had hid.

We attended a little Easter egg hunt in the West Village, and even grabbed a photo with the Easter bunny. I was fully expecting River to freak out, but I’m happy to report she only refused to smile for the camera. We are getting somewhere!

We ended our morning with brunch at a cute little spot on a quiet block in the Village. Peter and I both took turns rocking Oak to sleep outside, and each time as I found myself sitting on a sunny stoop looking at strangers pass, I felt extremely grateful. Grateful for the opportunity to rock this baby to sleep, to be able to afford brunch out, for our health, and for sunny and happy days. We’ve got it pretty good, and I never want to forget that.

A few things… your dress, I need it in my life. Where can I get it? Your little girl is your mini-me, so gorgeous. Sun has a way of spreading joy. We live in NW Indiana and we are ready to hightail it out for some milder weather and year 'round gratitude. The Midwest winters have turned me into such a grouch.

P.S. Thanks for posting the PO.P art contest, my boy won and we racked up on essentials!

I so enjoy your blog and am thrilled to have found it – you've never disappointed me. I love how real you keep it, and also the way your little family – you, hubby, River & Oak – seem to really delight in each others company. And what can I possibly say about your sense of style….
