A Relaxed Home

I never thought I would be a mother, let alone, a mother, a wife, and a homemaker. These roles are the most cherished positions of my life. They are where I combine my creativity, love, strength, and passions to create a happy life with the ones I love.

Behind the walls of this building, that sits on the prettiest little block, in what I consider, the dreamiest of neighborhoods, is all of that squeezed into a cozy apartment on the first floor. We dance here, we laugh here, but most importantly, it’s a place where we come to love and relax. We shed our layers here. Physically from the winter’s frigid air, and figuratively, from the wonderful and crazy city streets. We leave it all at the door, even our guests are required to.

I intended on keeping our home pretty minimal. I painted the walls stark white, I purchased statement furniture, and then I called it home. But the thing about home decor is this; you can’t really plan how it will make you feel in the long run. Once our place was pretty well lived in, the decor didn’t reflect how our home made us truly feel, so we changed it. We added plants, we added more plants, colorful accents, rugs, personal photography, and lastly, candles.

This home, especially this winter, became nothing short of a little oasis. When all of our friends moved south right before winter’s dramatic arrival and extended visit, our home became our little island.  It’s a safe and cozy place. It’s where I proudly wear my badge of honor as a homemaker. It’s where we come to love and relax.

In a place that can be sometimes tough, albeit, amazing and wonderful, I am glad that we have our home. I am grateful that I was able to design it.  I’m so very grateful that it’s ours, whatever we may want it to be, for however long it is supposed to be

This post was originally published as a sponsored post. But after some review on my part, it no longer is. The gushy feelings about our home still deserved a spot on here. Thanks for being awesome. xx

"We shed our layers here." That sentence is everything.

As for Glade, I'm a BIG fan of the clean linen candles and scents. BIG.
