Miami Moments

Last week we took a little family vacation. We started our week in Austin, Texas where we hung out with my best friend and her kids. A few days later we made our way to West Palm Beach, Florida where we stayed and hung out with my friend Emily and her daughter. Both of my friends recently moved from New York City, so the trip was extra special to me.

While planning our trip, Wyndham hotels reached out to me regarding a fun giveaway they’re having over on facebook (more about that at the bottom of this post). In partnering with Wyndham, we got the chance to spend one day and a night in their Resort and Spa located in South Beach. We had the best time! Here are some photos of our day around Miami and time at the Shelborne Wyndham Grand.

We arrived in Miami before our hotel check-in to take in street art at the Wynwood Walls. There, we had delicious tacos and coffee, and even made new friends. Everyone kept saying that if we ever moved to Florida, they think would move to Wynwood, and well, they were correct. There was so much to take in, and I can’t wait to go back to see more murals. It kind of reminded me of the huge street art movement happening here in Bushwick, Brooklyn. It was really something else.

We chose to stay in a double bed room at the Shelborne Wyndham Grand Hotel and Resort. We originally chose a king bed, but River was really excited to get her own big girl bed, and Wyndham was happy to switch us. To be honest, it felt really luxurious, and at first, I felt a little silly. Normally, we wouldn’t think to stay at a resort this nice, but goodness, I’m so happy we were given the opportunity to experience it. Our room was extremely comfortable, clean, and down right beautiful. At night we heard the very familiar noises that come along with living in a city. Peter and I actually turned to each other at one point and talked about how it still felt like New York City. South Beach felt alive, and so did our spirits.
We woke up that morning bright and early. River saw the sun creeping through the curtains, and quickly made a Frozen reference and asked to watch the sun come up.  We sat on the ledge and really took it in. It was breathtaking you guys. I need more of that here in New York!

Right after watching the sunrise, we showered then headed downstairs in search of breakfast. We really didn’t know what to expect in that department. Turns out, the hotel had a delicious buffet offering everything from eggs (made by a chef in-front of you), fresh croissants, pancakes and fresh fruit. Oak had so many strawberries, it was literally the cutest thing! He beamed with joy and content.

After our breakfast settled, we rinsed off and enjoyed the sun and the heated pool. Oak had never really been in a pool before, and it was so amazing to see him enjoy it. They gave us a floaty so he could enjoy himself, and so we could have free hands. River loved it too. She mostly stayed on the steps, only getting chest deep. But she was happy. After a few minutes of kicking and swimming, Oak dosed off in the water peacefully, with the sun bathing his skin. After letting him nap a little we knew it was time to retire to our room.

Our day and night at the resort was truly one to remember.

I’m excited to share that you can win your own week long vacation at a Wyndham Resort and Hotel of your choice!  Wyndham Hotels and Resorts is currently hosting a Do Not Disturb Sweeps, which gives travel enthusiasts a chance to win a dream vacation for two at any Wyndham Hotels and Resorts property around the world.  One winner will also receive 100k United Airlines Award miles to use for the vacation. Lastly, that same winner will receive 1,000 dollars in cash to use while they’re on vacation! Even though there will only be one grand prize winner, there will be one winner per week that will win 25 thousand in United Airline Award miles to go on a vacation of their very own. You can enter to win here. Good luck!

This post is in partnership with Wyndham Resorts and Hotels, a place I visited, enjoyed, and believe in. All opinions are my own.

It sounds like an incredible trip! My best friends live away too, and it really bums me out. It's so fun to go see them, but I want to meet for coffee and go grocery shopping together. Sorry for the brief pity party, it's over now:) glad you had fun and it went smoothly!
