So much country, so little time {Lancaster, Pennsylvania}

Okay, is it silly to call Lancaster the country? Our drive was a quick 2 1/2 hours, but with all the grass, trees, farms, and um….space, it sure did seem like the country to this city girl. We spent three days and three nights soaking in as much as we could.

Here is what we managed to capture on our camera.

At times, I felt a bit silly on our trip. I found myself asking question after question regarding the Amish lifestyle, why they’ve chosen to live their lives that way, and basically shuffle through facts and myths. I’ve got answers to questions I have had whirling in my head for a while now. River Mae and I even had the opportunity to interact with some sweet Amish women a time or two during our stay. The trip was everything we needed as a family, and everything I needed as an individual. It’s easy to feel the need to keep up with the Joneses in today’s world. So I must say the trip was quite the eye opener.

Besides all of that, it was beautiful, simply beautiful. I don’t even think the pictures (that I shot while hanging outside of the passenger side of the car) even do it justice. If you live there or have ever been, what’s your favorite part? While visiting did you also find the sudden urge to pump the brakes, grab your man’s hand, put your toddler on your hip and run through the fields with your eyes closed? πŸ˜‰
