Last week a friend of mine, her daughter, River and I, all took a late afternoon adventure to the Queens Zoo. It was actually my first time, and River’s as well. To my surprise, right across the road from the zoo, there was a petting zoo that happened to be open and was payed for by our regular zoo fee! I was kind of shocked that we got to visit two places for the price of one. Five minutes into feeding the sheep and llamas, River was a bit freaked out, and I felt like a big kid who was smiling from ear to ear. Visiting the zoo was one of the last summer activities that needed to get done ( I don’t know why it took me so long to finally go this summer). I couldn’t of asked for a better day to stroll, feed the animals, and teach River what a real life chicken looks like it! She warmed up to feeding the little animals before we left, and even did her best interpretation of a duck.
