Update on the “Wee Kitchen”

The teapot that I love so dearly, oh, and so does River. And the knobs that need repainting.

I don’t know if you all remember, but I started up-cycling River’s play kitchen a few weeks ago. It’s been coming along amazingly. I haven’t had too many days to devote to finishing it completely, and there are a handful of things that need to be finished (like the repainting of those knobs), but River is already so in love with it. Besides our kitchen window, it’s the first thing you get to see when you enter our kitchen, and it instantly makes me and usually most of tiny friends so happy. The colors scream “jolly spirit, jolly spirit, have a jolly spirit!” So far, besides repainting the whole thing, I created a kitchen sink out of an aluminum baking pan. I painted the pan, repainted it, and repainted it some more until it was white, and strong against pesky toddler hands.  I lined the cabinets with old contact paper that has followed us for three apartments, and put a handle on the oven. The kitchen looks totally different then when it first arrived, and goodness, I’m pretty darn proud of the little beat down thing that came into our home not too long ago. Sooner than later, there will be a breakdown on finish to end, with a before and after photo for you to see the HUGE difference.

I am so excited to share.
